A calendar view versus an up-next queue
A calendar is for return dates. Up next is for the episode you can play tonight. After TV Time, most people needed the second one and got the first.
nextepisode should separate ‘on tonight’ from ‘first unwatched in a show you already started.’ A wall of air dates is how you never press play.
Unfinished beats unaired
Eight half-finished series are a queue. A finale in November is a reminder. Do not let November bury the show on your hard drive.
Notifications for returns, not every air
Weekly noise is why people disable alerts. Ping the comeback. Leave the regular episode to the queue you open on the couch.
Frequently asked questions
Should I hide the calendar?
Keep it for returning shows. Do not make it the home screen.
What about live sports?
They are not an episode list. If you track them at all, they belong on a different shelf than scripted up-next.
