Movies versus episode progress in the same tracker
A film is one check-in. A series is a cursor. Mixing them as if a movie were season 1 episode 1 of itself is how lists get weird after a shutdown rebuild.
nextepisode tracks both with the same habit: watched or not, and what is next. Do not invent episode numbers for a feature.
Shelves should stay readable
Up Next for a movie is “watch it.” Up Next for a show is an episode. If the UI feels the same, the data should not lie.
Limited series still have episodes. A two-hour special that is actually a movie should be filed as one.
Exports have to say which
If you leave again, a CSV that cannot tell a movie from a season dump will waste the next rebuild. Keep the types clean now.
Frequently asked questions
What about anthology films?
If you stop between chapters, use a note. Do not fake a season structure the service does not have.
Can a movie live on a watchlist with shows?
Yes. That is a shelf, not a progress bar.
